Access control · New York City & Miami
Access control. Built around your building.
Smart Installers plans and installs access control for homes, multifamily buildings, and commercial spaces in New York City and Miami. Readers, controllers, credentials, and door hardware come together around the people who use the property.

The complete installation
The details, considered together.
Doors and hardware
Each controlled opening needs a coordinated plan for the reader, controller, power, lock, and door condition. We identify work that needs to be coordinated with the door or electrical trades.
People and permissions
We help define who can open which doors, at what times, and how new users are added or removed. Credential choices depend on the selected readers and system.
Administration and handover
The management experience matters after installation. We configure agreed access groups and explain routine tasks such as issuing credentials, revoking access, and reviewing available events.
Before choosing equipment
Start with the right questions.
Which openings need control?
A main entrance, office door, shared amenity, and gate can each require a different approach. Identify the openings, users, and intended release behavior rather than counting readers alone.
Who owns administration?
Choose the person or team responsible for adding users, changing schedules, and removing old credentials. Plan how account ownership will transfer if management changes.
What happens during an interruption?
Power, network connectivity, backup requirements, and door behavior need to be discussed together. The proposed design should explain the relevant failure scenarios for the actual hardware.
Upgrades & existing systems
A deliberate route from the existing system.
A takeover starts with the installed readers, controller, locks, credentials, cabling, and administrative access. We do not assume that another platform’s readers or credentials will work with a new controller. The assessment defines a practical migration and any equipment worth retaining.
Discuss your existing systemA useful first conversation
Bring us your space.
These details help us understand the work. Share what you have when we discuss the project.
- A list of doors or gates and who uses each one.
- Photos of readers, locks, controllers, and power supplies.
- Current credential types and available system documentation.
- Any schedules, visitor access, or management requirements.
A few things to know
Questions, answered.
Can you add access control to an existing door?
We first assess the door and frame, hardware, power, and cable route. Some openings need door or lock work before an electronic access system can be installed.
Can I keep my existing key fobs?
Only if the proposed readers and system support them. We check credential technology and compatibility before including reuse in a proposal.
Can access and cameras work together?
They can form part of a coordinated building system. Available integrations and event views depend on the chosen equipment and software; we define the required behavior during planning.
