Gather the starting information
- Mark the spaces and entrances involved on an available plan or simple sketch.
- List the outcomes you need now and any additions you might want later.
- Collect photos of visible equipment labels, device locations, and accessible cable routes.
- Name the person who can approve the scope and provide access to the work areas.
Review routes and infrastructure
- Arrange a wiring survey; keep cable reuse and new routes as open questions until inspected.
- Identify the equipment location, available power, network requirements, and access for future service.
- Confirm which rooms and areas belong in the installation scope.
Coordinate the work
- Confirm the project stage and any dates that affect access or finished surfaces.
- Name a site contact for installation-day questions.
- Assign related work, patching, painting, cleanup, and approval of changes to named parties.
Agree on the handoff
- Write down the functional tests and the everyday tasks the installer should demonstrate.
- Request equipment inventory, cable labels, configuration records, and support contacts.
- Confirm owner-controlled accounts, administrator access, and recovery arrangements.
- Review warranty terms, required recurring charges, optional support, and outstanding work.
