Video intercom · New York City & Miami

Video intercom. A better way in.

Smart Installers designs video intercom and entry systems for residential and commercial properties in New York City and Miami. We connect the visitor at the door with the right resident or staff member, then plan how an authorized entry actually happens.

The complete installation

The details, considered together.

The visitor experience

We consider where visitors arrive, how they find a resident or reception, and how clearly they can call and be heard. Mounting and the entrance finish are part of the plan.

The receiving experience

Call routing and compatible receiving devices are planned around residents or staff. Remote answering, indoor devices, and user setup are reviewed against the selected system.

The final step inside

Door release depends on compatible controllers, power, and door hardware. We review the whole entrance, including how an existing intercom will be replaced and how users will be introduced to the new one.

Before choosing equipment

Start with the right questions.

Who receives a visitor call?

A single home, a staffed business, and a building with many apartments need different call flows. Map the recipients and any shared entrances before selecting hardware.

What happens at the door?

The intercom is one part of the entrance. Door condition, locking hardware, power, and release behavior must be coordinated with the project’s requirements and relevant trades.

How will residents and deliveries use it?

Consider resident turnover, visitors, deliveries, and people who prefer an indoor receiving device. The best choice should suit daily routines, not only the product demonstration.

Upgrades & existing systems

Replacing an older intercom.

Start with the existing panel, wiring, power supply, door hardware, and number of units. Reuse may be possible in parts of the system, but older apartment wiring does not automatically support a new IP intercom. We assess the migration before defining the work.

Discuss your existing system

A useful first conversation

Bring us your space.

These details help us understand the work. Share what you have when we discuss the project.

  • Number of apartments, entrances, and receiving locations.
  • Photos of the current outdoor panel and indoor units.
  • Photos of the door, lock, and any accessible control equipment.
  • How residents, staff, and deliveries should gain entry.

A few things to know

Questions, answered.

Can an old apartment intercom be upgraded to video?

Often there is a path to a video system, but the wiring, power, network, and receiving devices need to be assessed. A survey determines what can stay and which parts need replacement.

Does every resident need a smartphone?

That depends on the chosen system and receiving setup. Tell us who needs an indoor device or another way to answer so we can assess compatible options before the equipment is selected.

How is an intercom different from access control?

An intercom helps a visitor contact someone inside. Access control checks a credential or permission to release a door. They often work together, but the building may need different features for each.
